Thankful for our Community
Author: Patti Boozang
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for your readership of The 80 Million. Despite the uncertainty many of us feel, I hope that you can enjoy some time and good food with family and friends later this week.
As I start my Thanksgiving meal preparation, one thought that I can’t shake is that in my recent conversations with Medicaid colleagues and friends, they note how many misconceptions and gaps in understanding about Medicaid they are hearing: who it covers, what it covers, and how major changes to federal program funding will impact the program and people enrolled in it. The most common knowledge gap? “Medicaid is the major funder of nursing home and other long-term care services? I didn’t know that!” Next week, The 80 Million will explore the Six Key Facts about Medicaid that are top of mind for states, and that everyone should be talking about as Congress considers proposals to radically reduce federal funding for Medicaid.
Until then, we hope you take a few days to take care of yourself and enjoy the company of your loved ones. Thank you again for your continued engagement with The 80 Million. We look forward to our ongoing conversation and hope that you’ll continue to share your thoughts and questions with us.
Warmly,
Patti Boozang
